Study a software engineering degree with us and you’ll build the essential skills you need to work with software systems – opening the door to a range of career opportunities. You’ll cover all aspects of the software engineering process, with a focus on methodical, industry-standard, team-based approaches used to design and develop robust, error-free software systems.
In your first year, you’ll start with the core principles of computing, how to build software applications within high-level programming languages, create web sites, design and develop database systems and work on a team project which tackles a real world inspired challenge.
As you progress, you’ll develop full-stack web development, secure coding, testing as well as advanced programming and development skills in a range of programming languages and environments. You’ll also tackle industry-inspired team-based projects and a large-scale software project in your final year. This will help you to build vital project management skills, as well as giving you a sound understanding of the role of software development, management and collaboration tools within the software life cycle.
Our BSc (Hons) Software Engineering and BSc (Hons) Computer Science degrees share a common first year, allowing you to switch between these courses at the end of your first year.
This course is available with a foundation year.
