Law with Criminology LLB (Hons)

Law with Criminology combines the study of legal principles and practices with an exploration of criminological theories and the criminal justice system. It provides the standard LL.B (Hons) Law degree that meets the requirements set by our regulators, the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulatory Authority, while also exploring the social construction of crime and the law and the application of key criminological theories.<br/><br/>You’ll cover all the core Foundation of Legal Knowledge Modules while also being able to choose the module option choices needed to provide you with the best employability prospects upon graduation. Law modules provide you with a deep understanding of foundational and advanced legal principles, the structure and function of legal institutions, and the skills to interpret and apply the law in various contexts. Criminology content broadens your knowledge, helping you to understand and apply key criminological theories and to situate the law within the criminal justice system and society more generally.<br/><br/>The course blends the rigorous analysis of law with an explanation of the causes, consequences and social responses to crime, offering a comprehensive and interdisciplinary experience. The course builds key legal and criminological skills, including critical thinking, communication, problem-solving and ethical awareness.<br/><br/>**Professional accreditation**<br/><br/>Our degree has been designed to offer you a holistic experience studying Law; you will study theoretical backgrounds as well as practical aspects of Law. Your curriculum will offer you the foundations of legal knowledge required by the Bar Standards Board, to satisfy the academic component of professional training for intending barristers. The degree also provides a strong foundation for students who may wish to take the Solicitors Qualifying Examinations (SQE) in the future.<br/><br/>**Specialist facilities**<br/><br/>Our Mediation Clinic provides commercial, family and workplace mediation to external parties. Through our expertise in this area, we have created opportunities for our students to experience at first hand real-life disputes and acquire valuable professional skills associated with a recognised method of alternative dispute resolution. Spaces are limited, though if you are particularly interested in this line of work, you are encouraged to apply for paid internships.<br/><br/>**Location**<br/><br/>This course is run at our Canterbury Campus in Kent. Canterbury is just 50 miles south-east of London and less than an hour by high-speed train from St Pancras.
