You’ll broaden your understanding of educational psychology through specialist modules on educational psychology, atypical development, inclusion, special educational needs and developmental difficulties.

You’ll start by learning about the building blocks of psychology, as well as its theoretical, philosophical and historical foundations, and the skills you’ll need to conduct psychological research. In Year 2, you’ll take this fundamental knowledge to the next level, and advance your qualitative and quantitative research skills. You’ll also explore the diagnosis and treatment of mental health problems. In Year 3, you’ll choose from a range of optional modules according to your interests, and undertake a major research project from start to finish, supported by one of our experts.

Upon graduation you could use your psychological knowledge and research, analytical, and communication skills to work with children, families, and schools to support learning, emotional, and behavioural needs. You might undertake further training and become an educational psychologist, a learning support coordinator, a special educational needs coordinator, or an educational researcher.
